Vans Old Skool Style 36 Marshmallow 'Racing Red'

As the 'old skool' hype is getting more trendy among youngsters these days, Vans took the right call to bring back a retro design of the old skool; style 36. It was very first designed back in 1977 which made the style 36 have a more vintage touch to it.

The more significant details of the style 36 compared to an original old skool would be that the toe box is significantly shorter which increases the number of the eyelets of the shoe. This is turns suggested a different kind of lacing system where the laces used are longer and the material feels more of a chuck taylor kind of lace.

Well, both brands definitely have no affiliation but that's one coincidental(?) similarity there.

Apart from the aesthetics, the leather on the style 36 is much buttery as compared to modern old skool and to add on, insoles also has more cushioning which provides a better support and is more comfortable for an everyday wear.

Putting the design and functionality aside, what really made this shoe pop was that it was solely released in Asia or more specifically, South Korea. Kpop Celebritiy G-Dragon was caught wearing this shoe and since Vans shoes are more or less affordable, fans raved over this pair which in turn caused a wave in the sneaker market resulting in this shoe reselling for about double of its price.

And I'm proud to be one of the more insensible sneakerhead who copped this pair at a resale price and after few months later, Vans released a second batch that entirely destroyed the resale market on this pair.

Personally, this pair is a super easy match for me. Casual everyday wear, with jeans, shorts, anything. White shoes are definitely trendy right now, on top of that, you wear a pair of Vans on the streets, people would definitely know what is up with you.

It's easily a win-win situation here so if you ask me, this is a 10/10 worthy cop.
