Is adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 #WorthTheHype?

The very first article on TheGreatQuantum’s web page begins with the comparison between two of the most hyped sneakers in the market right now. Let's break it down.
1. adidas Yeezy Boost 350
The 750s were the first adidas x KW collaboration. However, the hype didn't seem to bring the heat for those self-proclaimed hypebeasts, that was until the first ever Yeezy Boost 350 dropped in 2015. The hype grew ferociously with this pair, which saw the most hypebeasts, resellers, collectors resort to camping for a pair. Though the silhouette has been compared with Nike's Roshe Run. The difference, of course, is in the quality of the shoe. The 350s consists of a full primeknit upper, a white boost midsole and an outsole with a rubber cage around it. Unlike the Ultraboost that exposes the boost panel in its midsole. As for the sizing, it is recommended to go half or one size down.
The pair that I have in my own personal collection is the Turtle dove colourway which is also the first colourway released for the Yeezy Boost 350. Personally, I copped it off the resale price and worn few times. The experience with boost was extraordinary and if you guys wouldn't mind paying the resale price, it's definitely worth copping. The current market resale price goes for around SGD$1200 or USD$850 depending on the colorway.
2. adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2
The first ever V2 that was released was the Beluga colourway that is depicted here.
The V2s were just another name to differentiate the two designs of the first batch of 350s, released in 2015 and the current batch, released in 2016. The significant difference in aesthetics was on the lateral side, adidas and KW included a stripe that wrote: "SPLY - 350". Some say that the ‘SPLY’ means 'supply' and some say that it means 'Saint Pablo Love You'. ‘Saint Pablo’ referring to KW’s own brand. Either way, it's the shoe that flipped the sneaker market once again. In terms of comfort and durability, adidas said they added more boost to the midsole to provide a more cozy fit. As for sizing, it is recommended to go true to size or half size up.
The one that I have in my own personal collection is the 'Olive/Green' colourway that released alongside with the 'Red' and 'Copper' colourway back in November 2016. These 3 colourways were launched at the same time, but I was only able to cop a pair of the Olives at resale price. I wore this pair a couple of times more than the Turtle Doves and I have to say, it felt much more comfortable and the boost cushioning made long walks felt less of a burden and the curved heel gave a better heel support as well. If you guys wouldn't mind paying resale price, it's definitely worth copping. The current market resale price goes for around SGD$800 or USD$600 depending on the colorway.
Review
Comparing both the V1 and V2 in terms of these aspects,
In terms of aesthetics, I would say the V1 killed the competition. The combined innovative genius of adidas and KW revamped the look of how a low cut sneaker would look like and, of course, showed us a higher end of how a Roshe would look like. Although the V1s only had 4 colourways (Turtle Dove, Pirate Black, Moonrock, Oxford Tan), these 4 colours were good enough to match almost any outfit and steal the limelight.
If you're looking for a more everyday lifestyle sneaker to show off and also to be able to flex with comfort, the V2s are definitely more comfortable and durable in the way they are constructed and the amount of boost used in each pair definitely raised the comfort level by few bars. As for the price, you're definitely paying for resale if you were to get a pair now. If you were just looking to flaunt, the V2 will be the cheaper alternative.
Having owned a pair of each, I would say the V1 keeps a lower profile, as it only exhibits one colour across the entire shoe. Also, in terms of outfit matching, the V1 has a better chance of constructing that overall appearance for a more stylized look. Seeing that the V2 has a more patterned and graphic design, it may not appeal to everyone. Having said that, however, it is still very much a shoe that demands attention from afar and one that should be rightfully flaunted.
All in all, if you're willing to spend the money, be it the V1 or V2, it is #WorthTheHype.
